Much of our PSHCE curriculum becomes a part of everything we do in school as we want children to feel confident about themselves, understand safety and health and relationships. Part of our PSHCE curriculum is based around SEAL(Social Emotional Aspects of Learning) and this also links with assemblies.
Children also engage in Drugs awareness. This was the focus of some recent drama workshops by KIC theatre.
Children also engage in learning about how to keep themselves healthy and this is also an integral part of the ‘invisible’ curriculum when children are having snack times, hand washing but to name a few.
Sex and Relationships is an essential part of the curriculum and we make use of the Channel 4 resources for schools which are specifically designed for younger children.
We also make sure children have circle times to express their views and feelings. The School Council provides an important element of pupil voice and pupils complete an online Pupil Perceptions questionnaire which also allows them to have their voice regarding the Every Child Matters elements.
