In April we took some of our Year 4 pupils to compete in the Shepway School Games mini football tournament.
The games were fast paced and the boys soon had to learn how to work as a team in order to move the ball forward and score!
They played exceptionally well together and finished in a very respectable 4th place out of 16 teams.
Player of the tournament went to Jed for outstanding effort throughout the afternoon.
Well done Charlie, Luke, Callum, Jed, Sean, Oliver & Ruo Ming.
Last week we took ten of our Year 1 & 2 children to the Marsh Academy to take part in the Shepway School Games Multi Skills competition. The children had to use many skills such as balance, power, aiming, agility, co-ordination, speed and reaction time in order to earn a team score for each station. They competed against ten other teams from across Shepway and after two hours of hard work, our team finished in 1st Place!
Congratulations to Blake, Kylie, Archie, Leyla, Maisie, Belle, Noah, Dylan, Summer & Jasmine!
On Friday we took 3 teams of children from across Year 3, 5 & 6 to Folkestone Rugby Club to take part in the Kent School Games Tag Rugby Qualifiers. The children competed against 20 teams and had to work hard to earn points in their groups. It was a tough competition, made tougher by the wintery weather but we managed to score some tries and Dymchurch 1 made it through to the semi finals! They played a further two games but were just beaten to the medals by 3 points in their final game, finishing in 4th place out of 20 teams.
Well done to all who took part and to Dymchurch 2 & 3 for showing great support to Dymchurch 1 in the semi finals!

March saw the return of our football team back in action, in the Shepway Herald Cup Football League. We had 4 games to play just to make it through the first round of the league.
The boys have worked incredibly hard over the last five weeks, training most lunchtimes and having to adapt to different positions due to illness and injury. After a tough 4 games, we are pleased to say that Dymchurch have made it through to the quarter-finals of the Herald Cup, which is a huge achievement for the school. This is the first team to make it through the group stage in at least 4 years - well done boys!

Sport Relief 2016
The whole school dressed up in their favourite sports clothes and ran several laps of the fields in their house groups.
It was wonderful to see the whole school getting involved, from EYFS to Year 6 and even the staff!
Well done to everyone and thank you for donating money for Sport Relief - we managed to raise over £250!
At the end of term 4, we took 4 teams to the cross country running event at Three Hills Sports Park. Y3 & Y4 ran a 1000m track while Y5 & Y6 took on a whopping 1600m course! All of the children worked incredibly hard and gave it their all to complete the course.
Each runner was given a ticket with their finishing place and the top 4 scores from each team were added together to give an overall team score.
The final results put our Year 3 & 4 boys team in 2nd place and our Year 5 & 6 boys team in 1st place in Shepway!
Well done to all of our runners, we are so proud of you!
Congratulations to Kalina, Lola, Jenna, Amelie, Max, Zac, Jack, Ben, Fraser, Tatjana, Regan, Khloe, Halime, Abigail, Louis, Logan, Teddy, Luke, Conner & Oliver.
Last week our EYFS and KS1 children were lucky enough to have a visit from CATCH, who delivered a fantastic sports session to our youngest children.
The classes were each taught ball handling skills including moving with the ball, passing the ball, picking up the ball and thinking tactically in a game situation.
All of the children were involved in a fast paced session for a full 50 minutes and then took it upon themselves to practise the skills they had learned from CATCH during their lunchtime play.
Even our teachers picked up some super ideas so that they could deliver the sessions during their own PE time.
Last week saw our two fabulous teams play their final 4 games in the SST basketball leagues in Folkestone.
After a tough week, Dymchurch 1 were off to a flying start winning their first two matches! Dymchurch 2 had a head start after winning all of their games the previous week. They fought hard and drew their first two games against Sandgate and Hythe Bay.
The hall was electric with sixteen teams all buzzing for their next game while also supporting whoever was on the court!
Twelve games later and it was time to announce the results. Dymchurch 1 had worked incredibly hard and won all of their fixtures this week, Dymchurch 2 had pulled it back and won their final few games of the evening.
Dymchurch 1 took 4th place in their league and Dymchurch 2 emerged victorious in their their league, claiming an amazing 1st place!!
A fantastic result for our school with other schools complimenting us on our excellent sportsmanship and skill.
Congratulations to Kalina, Kacy, Max F, Zac, Max P, Thomas, Ben, Jack, Adam, Richard, Roxie & Sophie.
A great start to the SST Elite & Development Basketball Leagues in Folkestone this evening!
The elite league proved to be extremely tough with every team giving it their all! Dymchurch 1 currently have 1 point and 4 baskets in their league & Dymchurch 2 have 9 points after winning each of their fixtures!
Dymchurch 1 put in one of the best performances of the evening against Churchill Primary with both teams fighting right up until the final whistle - an exciting game for all the spectators and both teams receiving a huge round of applause from the crowd..
In addition to our regular sports players making up the teams, we have also had an influx of new sports players giving it their all as well as 4 girls taking part in the leagues - keep it up Dymchurch.
The final fixtures will take place in two weeks time where we will find out the final positions.
Well done to both teams so far - superb teamwork and effort from every player!
