Over the last two weeks we have taken three teams to the Marsh Academy and Three Hill Sports Park to take part in the Shepway Netball Qualifiers.

We took children from across Y4, 5 & 6 to compete and show off their skills. After two tough weeks, our teams came in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in their individual groups, meaning that we have earned 2 places in the Shepway Netball Finals next week!

Good luck to both our teams who will be competiting against some tough teams for the title!

This week some of our KS1 & KS2 children took part in a fun speed stacking workshop with Shepway Sports Trust to help them develop their hand eye co-ordination while having lots of fun!

The children had to learn to use both hands while stacking, 3, 6 then 3 cups each time.

We will certainly be working on these skills in Y1 & Y2 in term 6!

This week our EYFS & KS1 children were visited by Shepway Sports Trust who delivered the Fun Factory. The children had to work both independently and as a team to complete lots of challenges that focussed on power, speed, agility, reaction time and balance.

All the childrne had lots of fun learning how to be active and have fun at the same time.

This year we had a very strong team entering the Herald Cup Football Tournament. The boys trained each week with our football coaches from FLOW and put out some blinding performances against some very tough competition.

Dymchurch Vs Harcourt  -  1 - 0

Dymchurch Vs Lympne - 8 - 0

Dymchurch Vs Sandgate - 2 - 3

Dymchurch Vs St Martins - 0 - 2

Unfortunately we just missed out on the quarter finals, losing our last game 2-0 to St Martins.

Well done to all of our team, we are so proud of you!

We took four teams down to the Marsh Academy to take part in the Shepway Pop Lacrosse qualifiers. In addition to our Y5 & 6 teams, we took Year 4 children with us to give them a taster of pop lacrosse at a competitive level to prepare them for next year's events.

The children played well but had to learn to work together to defend and attack as we were up against some tough competition! One of our teams made it to the final and took 2nd place out of 12 teams, meaning that they will represent our school and Shepway in the Kent Pop Lacrosse Finals in June!

Well done to all of our teams that took part. Go Team Dymchurch!

We took 3 teams of ten children to the Folkestone Rugby Club to take part in the Shepway Schools Tag Rugby Competition. The competition was focused upon a new format of 'fair play' rules, rather than the usual format in other competitions. Our teams played fantastically well with two of our teams winning their groups!

Well done to all of the children, especially Faye, Tia and Tom for winning the fair play awards.

We are looking forward to the June tournaments where we will take two teams along to play competitively!

Our Year 2 children had an excellent day at the Marsh Academy, practising their speed, accuracy, balance, reaction time, agility and power in many different events over the afternoon. They had great fun working together and took 1st and 3rd Place out of 12 teams!

Go Team Dymchurch!

We were fortunate again to have Shepway Sports Trust come in to deliver the Olympic Roadshow to some of our KS1 & KS2 pupils. They had the opportunity to work in teams (representing a different country) and try 4 different sports throughout the morning. The children took part in boxing, cricket, football and basketball with the SST coaches throughout the morning. Great fun and a superb attitude from all the children!

Last week we continued our busy sports schedule by taking 4 teams from Year three to Year six to compete at the Kent School Games Handball Qualifier. We were excited to be using our school mini bus for the second time! After a long drive to Folkestone, we arrived and the children began warming up. It was clear that there was some tough competition from the other schools and that every member of the team would need to work hard if they wanted to earn a place in the final.

We began with both teams winning their first 3 games against the other schools. Team B continued their winning streak and worked very hard to complete the first round undefeated. Unfortunately our other team came up against some very skilled teams and were unable to pull back, leaving them just out of the finals. Our B team competed against a very fast team from Elham. There were goals left, right and centre from both teams and we narrowly missed out on the gold medal by 2 goals! An exciting tournament for our Y3 & 4 children, finishing in 2nd and 5th place. Player of the tournament went to Will in Y4 for truely outstanding goalkeeping.

3 o'clock meant it was time for our Y5 & 6 children to take to the courts. They started very similarly to our Y3 & 4 children, winning their first 3 games. Again, our girls showed excellent effort and determination to take on the boys and show themselves as true team players. Team B won 4 out of 5 games which saw them through to the finals and Team A won 3 out of 5 which left them just missing out.

The final - Dymchurch took on an undefeated Sandgate, it was a very fast game again and our team held their own. With only 7 minutes to show what they could do they really put all their effort in to this final game. Unfortunately, they just missed out on a gold medal by 2 goals, finishing 4-2 to Sandgate.

Well done to all of our players, it was fantastic to take so many children to compete in such a fast-paced and fun sport.
